The beginning of our adventure started on the historic 3rd street in Geneva, IL. with an idea of bringing a ne experience to the suburbs. Big city aesthetics, a cocktail menu with innovation and fresh ingredients, and a selection of food for sharing and enjoying with friends. Barrel + Rye was just the beginning; the next project was to create the same feeling for the families and to turn the average sports bar into something new for the times. With the idea formally constructed, what to do about the menu. Burgers, but with a chef’s touch. Coming out of the kitchen at Barrel + Rye gave the team incite on how to make burgers the way they had always wanted, fun and exciting, The Burger Local was born. A great beer list, ample room for families and parties, custom blended 10oz beef patties with creative toppings, and accompanied by standard American fare with a twist. All was good in Geneva, but the urge to create and bring more exciting restaurants was far from over. In 2016, Maize + Mash was formed out of the idea to expand the Barrel + Rye aesthetic and expand out to neighboring suburbs. With an extensive whiskey list and a menu, the rivaled anything in the area, Maize has helped push Glen Ellyn into a restaurant epicenter. Following the success of these 3 passion driven projects, it was time for the owners and team to bring their talents back to their hometown, Wheaton. Set on the main strip of town The Burger Social occupies one of the many historical buildings in town. Expanding on the core ideas of the last 3 ventures and knowing that Wheaton is a family-oriented town the only thing to do was a family restaurant with sports bar vibes, American fare, and the wonderful creations from Geneva’s The Burger Local. Burgers, Beer, Whiskey, and Cocktails. All these restaurants are nothing less than the life’s work of many, and from the very passionate people in this industry there is no stopping. In the BLANK of 2022, the team at Bourbon Belly will be opening its 5th restaurant in Wheaton. We can’t wait to see you.
